Fort York Temporary Installation Coming Soon!

Temporary Installation Overview: They Walked These Streets...and Answered "The Call"-Stories of Service, Industry and Community Along Toronto's Waterfront during the World wars

Researched and curated by Project Coordinator, Katy Whitfield, this engaging and interactive installation will be on display at Fort York Historic Site from October 21-November 22, 2026. The Fort is open Wednesday-Sunday 11:00a.m.-4:00p.m. Admission is Free.

Torontonians answered the call to war by enlisting in the armed forces, producing munitions and equipment and by helping on the home front. This temporary installation highlights stories of the people and places along Toronto’s waterfront that shaped the war effort during World War I and World War II.  Historical documents, photographs, and artifacts honour the sacrifice of Torontonians, show how communities did their part and explain how Toronto, along the waterfront, was forever transformed by war.

Plan to join us for our "History Lab" Open House Event, Sunday, October 25th, 2026

2:00-4:00p.m. Everyone is welcome!
